KakaIru Big Bang 2021

Huzzah, the time has finally come for the KakaIru Big Bang 2021 sign-ups! We hope you're all just as excited as we are for this fun fandom event!

Before you sign-up, please do take a moment to look read through our handbook. It contains all of the event information, event and server rules, requirements for participants, beta readers, and pinch hitters.

What Is The KakaIru Big Bang?

Simply put, the KakaIru Big Bang is a closed (moderated) fandom event where artists and writers collaborate to create fanworks for the pairing of Hatake Kakashi and Umino Iruka, whilst also challenging themselves to create longer works. Over the assigned creation period, paired writers and artists will work together. Once that period has ended, participants will upload their works to our unrevealed AO3 collection, where we will reveal works to an agreed and set schedule.

There is no minimum skill level required or selection process, and we welcome anyone to join us: seasoned creators and newbies alike! We’d love for people to connect and make new friends, and for us all to come together as a fandom to enjoy our favourite scarred senseis!

All communication will take place through a dedicated Discord server, which will be linked in the sign-up forms. You must have an account or be willing to create one in order to participate.

Here at the KakaIru Big Bang, we have an awesome team of experienced moderators, who, between them, have organised and run many fan events and fanzines. We understand that this event is a huge project, and want to assure you that we have what it takes to run this event smoothly and see it through to the end.

Sign-ups open Nov 1 for writers, and Dec 14 for artists, and Nov 1 for beta readers and pinch hitters!

Outside of fandom I really enjoy reading, crochet, photography, collecting rare comic covers, and looking after my pet chickens! Hello! I’m Moka, a 25yo writer, who’s far too invested in zines and daydreaming about finishing her AO3 WIPs. I’m super active in the BNHA fandom, and I’ve wiggled my way into the Naruto fandom now too! When I’m not writing, I’m usually binge-reading fics about fake dating, mutual pining, and body swaps. I’m a massive multishipper and rare pair lover. I’d tell you what I do outside of fandom, but my life currently revolves around BNHA and Naruto when I’m not at work. Hello hello~! I'm Tav, otherwise known as Caped-Ace/TavacadoToast depending on where you find me, a 31yo nonbinary trans dude who writes and (occasionally, when the ADHD releases me from my executive dysfunction cage) draws. When I'm living my best life outside fandom I really enjoy reading, especially Korean webtoons/webnovels, and watching cat videos with my two bastard cats. I am the art mod for this event, and cannot wait to see what content you all create!

On our team we have two super enthusiastic and wonderful intern mods! It’s important to give back to fandom, and one of the things we wanted to do here at the KakaIru Big Bang was to give two people the opportunity to learn the ropes with fan event planning, so that they can start up their own events in the future! Heyy! I’m Miriam. I’m a 30 year old woman who became a Naruto fan in 2020 and is now obsessed. I love cats of all kinds, making Jewish fannish content, comics, and knitting. When I’m not at my day job or working on fandom stuff, I’m reading and bugging my cats. Kakairu is my first Naruto ship and what got me to participate in the fandom! I’m super excited to watch everyone’s ideas come to life and be involved with the process from multiple angles!

Camilita:

Hi! I’m Camila and I’m a 34yo female KakaIru writer (not very prolific, but oh well). I love to read, pamper my dog and eat sweets. When I’m not at work you can find me binge-reading fics with a cup of coffee as a companion. You can also find me on the Umino Hours Discord server where I came to know our favorite mods.

It’s my first time organizing an event and I’m very excited to be working with all these wonderful people (writers and artists alike) so I hope we have a great time together!

Event Rules

1) This is a ship-specific event and end-game must be KakaIru. Other background pairings and poly relationships are allowed but they must not be the main pairing or focal point. We are not allowing minor/adult or incestuous relationships in this event.

2) All participants must have a Discord account or be prepared to make one, as all communication and organisation will take place through our dedicated server.

3) All participants must be at least 13 years old and have an AO3 account, as all fanworks will be hosted in our collection. If you don’t have an account, please indicate this on the sign-up form and a mod will provide you with an AO3 invite.

4) All fanworks must be brand new, unseen, and not published anywhere else previously (including snippets shared on social media or in a Discord server). Existing WIP’s are fine to use, but also must not have been shared anywhere previously.

5) Discussion of fanworks for this event must be kept within the Big Bang server. Please do not discuss your ideas or works outside of the server prior to your pieces being revealed by the event mods.

6) Writers must create the minimum word count for the tier they signed up for. You may create more writing than the tier you signed up for requires, but you will still be locked in to your original tier - a longer fic is a fun bonus for us, but there's no obligation for the artist you are paired with to do more. If a participant is having trouble completing the minimum for the tier they signed up for, please contact a mod ASAP.

7) Artists must create works for the minimum amount of art pieces for the writer they are paired with (e.g. if they are paired with a tier 1 writer, they must create 1 piece of art). If a participant is having trouble completing the minimum for the tier they signed up for, please contact a mod ASAP.

8) NSFW content is allowed, but only if your partner is over 18 and comfortable with it. If you are a minor, you must not create NSFW content. Anyone found violating these rules will be immediately removed from the event, no exceptions.

9) Any rating of fanworks is fine, but no non-con, dub-con, underage, or incestuous relationships are allowed in this event. Anyone found violating these rules will be immediately removed from the event, no exceptions.

10) Participants may drop out at any point, but please let a mod know as soon as possible. We understand that these are trying times, and that sometimes life in general can be unpredictable, but we ask that you please communicate with us so that we can call in a pinch hitter. There will be no judgement or bad feelings from us if you need to drop out for any reason, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

11) Participants may also choose to be a pinch hitter, which can be indicated on the sign-up form. We’d ask that you only put yourself down for this if you’re sure that you are able to create an additional fanwork if needed. Should someone drop out, mods will contact participants who indicated they’d like to also be a pinch hitter, before contacting the non-participant pinch hitters.

12) Participants must not post their works to social media until we have revealed them from the AO3 event collection.

13) Treat your fellow participants with kindness. If anyone is making you uncomfortable, or is breaking the server or event rules, please contact a mod directly.

Schedule

In order to make sure this event runs smoothly, we have a set check-in schedule and expectations of participants. Below is the check-in schedule. We have included four “soft check-ins” where mods will privately contact participants just to see how they are getting on, and give them the opportunity to voice any concerns or issues they may have. This is an opt-in only check-in, and the mods will only be contacting those who opted in.

Two weeks prior to a check-in, reminders will be posted in the announcements channel, but you will not be tagged.
